Shenzhen customs handed over 25 freezers and one compressor involved in a cross-border fraud and smuggling case to the Hong Kong police on July 4.

According to customs, it is the first time in recent years that Shenzhen customs has turned over goods involved in smuggling cases to Hong Kong police, and is significant in cooperation on cross-border crime prevention.

In 2008 a Hong Kong resident obtained the freezers from seven Hong Kong liner companies, claiming he was renting them. He then smuggled them into the mainland and sold them.

In Sept 2008 the Shenzhen public security bureau seized some of the freezers following clues from Hong Kong police.

Hong Kong police returned them to the liner companies on July 4.
