5 missing after boat overturns in SW China

CHENGDU - Five people, including a child, are missing after a fishing boat capsized in a river in Southwest China's Sichuan province on Monday evening, according to local authorities.

The accident happened at around 7 pm on the Shagou River in Guanyin township, Yibin county, when a boat loaded with seven people overturned, the provincial safety supervision bureau said on Tuesday.

An adult and another child aboard were rescued in the wake of the accident.

A search for the missing is ongoing, while the cause of the accident is still being investigated.
