BEIJING - The collapse of a Beijing factory on Wednesday left one worker dead and two others buried under debris, according to a local government announcement.
Altogether, five workers were buried when the auditorium of a foundry in a village in east Beijing's Chaoyang district caved in, and rescuers have pulled out two people alive, a spokesman with the Chaoyang district government said.
The auditorium, which was undergoing maintenance work at the time of the accident, was built in 1978.
Scores of firemen and 11 fire trucks have been dispatched to the scene, the spokesman said.
Rescuers are still searching the debris for the missing workers, he added.
