2 rescued, 9 still trapped in SW China colliery

WANYUAN, Sichuan - Rescuers on early Tuesday morning pulled out two miners but nine others are still trapped underground nearly 40 hours after a gas burst hit a colliery in Southwest China.

The two miners were rescued at around 2:30 am from the Yongsheng coal mine in Wanyuan city of Sichuan province. They received emergency treatment and have been in stable condition, according to Ding Xiaolin, head of the Central Hospital of Wanyuan.
