The Red Cross Society of China has received more than 40 million yuan ($6.3 million) in past two years from the Chinese public on the mainland via mobile phones, Zhao Baige, executive vice-president of the society, said at a capacity building forum on Wednesday.

The society is in the first stage of a systematic evaluation designed and facilitated by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, namely the Organizational Capacity and Assessment Certification (OCAC).

After the first self assessment, "We'll enter the second peer review when the society will be evaluated by other strong Red Cross national societies worldwide", she said.

The final results are expected to be released by October, Zhao added.

Some eight provincial Red Cross societies are also expected to undergo the OCAC soon, including Guangdong province, she said.

The forum was attended by Red Cross national societies from Asian Pacific countries and regions.
