The National Meteorological Center said on Thursday heavy rain is expected to hit Sichuan, Gansu and Shaanxi provinces before Friday, increasing difficulties facing reconstruction efforts after April’s Lushan earthquake in Sichuan.

The precipitation volume in Sichuan province may reach 150 millimeters, causing potential flooding and landslides, the center said.

According to data released by the Zhuhai meteorological bureau in Guangdong province, the precipitation volume in Zhuhai reached 500 mm on Tuesday and Wednesday, a 13-year record. Schools closed and thousands of people were evacuated on Wednesday.
