Administrative approval reform is the main focus of the 12th People's Congress of Shaanxi province, deputies of the session said.

Administrative examination and approval reform should be sped up, according to Wang Bin, chairman of Shaanxi Fenghang Rubber Sealing Parts Co and deputy of the session, which started on Jan 14.

As manager of an enterprise, Wang said that a firm has to get a number of approvals from governmental departments at different levels to carry out various projects.

"A cumbersome approval process is not only inefficient, but also breeds corruption," he said.

The process should continue to improve at the service level and supervision should be strengthened to ensure market order, he added.

Wang Youquan, chairman of Qianshan Tea Co in Ningqiang county and deputy of the congress, said that the ultimate aim of deepening reform is to promote economic development.

Shaanxi received a great opportunity for development in September when President Xi Jinping approved the building of an economic zone along the ancient Silk Road.

"Shaanxi is the starting point of the ancient Silk Road and has unique historical and cultural significance. Our province should promote efficiency and development by deepening reform and attract more investors with new measures to speed up development," Wang Youquan said.
