A woman in Baoting Li and Miao autonomous county, Hainan province, had to wait for nearly four years for her name on her household registration booklet to be corrected, local news portal hinews.cn reported on Tuesday.

Huang Lichen, 23, discovered her name was written wrongly as Huang Lizhan when her household registration information was updated in 2010 and asked at a local police station for it to be corrected. Because of the incorrect name, Huang could not apply for an ID card. She found, however, when she graduated from college in 2012 that the correction had not been made and she faced difficulties finding a job without an ID card.

Huang and her parents went many times to the police station asking to have her name corrected and it was finally done on Feb 10 with the help of local media.
