China will continue to improve the quality of rural education, Liu Limin, deputy education minister, told a news conference on Thursday, citing a document issued recently.

The document, published by the Ministry of Education, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Finance, listed tasks, including guaranteeing basic teaching conditions in rural and poverty-stricken areas, improving the teachers' living conditions in these areas and giving them more support.

"If science and technology represents our tomorrow, education represents the day after tomorrow. So, we should plan our tomorrow and the day after from this day forth," Liu said.
