A farmer has spent 5,000 yuan ($820) building a replica Lamborghini convertible for his grandson in Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan province, Zhengzhou Evening News reported on Monday.

The grandfather, 50, surnamed Guo, from the countryside near Zhoukou city, completed the miniature car within six months while looking after his grandson in Zhengzhou. He copied photos of the design and bought an engine hood and steering wheel marked Lamborghini on the Internet.

The car is equipped with rear-view mirrors and a sound system, and can run for about 60 kilometers on the power of five batteries. Two buttons left and right of the steering wheel operate loudspeakers, while another in the middle switches the vehicle to reverse, the report said.

"I know little about making cars. I just did it for fun and plan to drive it to take my grandson to school and pick him up," Guo said.

However, traffic police said such cars cannot be driven on the road, but are only suitable for playing in the yard.
