Man sentenced for raping partner's mother

A 30-year-old man in Luxian county, Sichuan province, who raped his cohabiting girlfriend's mother, was sentenced on Tuesday by the local court to four years and one month in prison, China News Service reported.

The man, surnamed Li, had lived unmarried for four years with the daughter of the woman, surnamed Zhang, who disapproved of the relationship. The couple have a daughter of their own.

Li lured Zhang into a deserted warehouse and beat and raped her in April 2013. He was captured by police after Zhang called 110 the next day.

Because of his clean criminal record, his confession and Zhang's written statement of forgiveness, Li's sentence was less that it might have been, authorities said.
