Six fishermen who were missing for 57 hours in extreme weather were rescued in Leizhou, Guangdong province, on Tuesday night, Guangzhou Daily reported.

The fishermen and their vessel returned to Wushi harbor in the coastal city of Leizhou at 10:30 pm, with help from local fishery and marine departments. All the fishermen were in good condition despite being adrift at sea for 57 hours.

The fishing boat lost power and the crew lost contact with land due to a mechanical breakdown at about 1:30 pm on Sunday.

Local fishery and marine departments launched a joint search and rescue operation immediately after they were reported missing.

In addition to rescue vessels, a helicopter was sent to help search for the missing fishing boat.
