A cult group called Huazang Famen, or Huazang Zongmen, has been busted in Zhuhai of South China's Guangdong province, according to People's Daily.

Fifteen members have been detained for allegedly hampering law enforcement, swindling and rape.

Wu, 47, a native from the province's Jieyang city, founded the sect in early 1990s. He attracted adherents by claiming that he was the reincarnation of Buddha and by creating a doctrine called "Cultivation of Huazang". It is said that the group has more than 1,000 adherents.
