A man has confessed to locking up a 22-year-old college student for four days, beating and raping her many times, in Jinan, Shandong province. The girl was rescued on Monday.

The victim, surnamed Jin, arrived in Jinan in the afternoon of Aug 21, and planned to travel by bus to Tai’an — another city in Shandong province. When she headed to the bus station, she accepted a ride from the man on his motorcycle, Xinhua News Agency reported on Wednesday.

Dai, the suspect, drove her around the city and exchanged his motorcycle for a tuk-tuk when the girl asked him to take her back to the railway station. The 52-year-old man did not take her back but raped her in the tuk-tuk that night.

He then took her to his room where he tied her up, and beat and raped her for the following four days. On Monday, the girl got the opportunity to send a text message to an online friend. The police found her after searching for two hours after receiving her friend’s call.

The suspect, from Fushun, Liaoning province, was found to have a record of four crimes of rape, kidnapping, sexual assault and theft. He had been sentenced to 10 years in prison for raping a woman in 1983. The most recent charge against him was from 2012 for sexual assault and he was released in October 2013.

Dai admitted to his crimes against the college student during the investigation.
