SW China landslide death toll rises to 7

GUIYANG - At least seven people were killed and 20 remained missing as of Thursday afternoon after a landslide struck a village in Southwest China's Guizhou province on Wednesday night.

The accident happened at around 8 p.m., when a landslide hit Yingping village in Fuquan city. Twenty-two people were injured as of 6 a.m. on Thursday, according to the rescue headquarters.

A total of 77 houses collapsed or were buried in the landslide and the lives of 154 villagers were affected.

Rescue work is under way.
