UNITED NATIONS - China said Saturday that "the conflicts in Ukraine remain a cause of concern," voicing its hope that "various ethnic groups in Ukraine will live in harmony and that Ukraine will live in peace with other countries."

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi made the statement while speaking at the ongoing annual high-level debate of the UN General Assembly, which entered its fourth day Saturday.

"The conflicts in Ukraine remain a cause of concern," Wang said. "We welcome and support the Minsk ceasefire agreement and urge all parties in Ukraine to strictly implement it and seek a comprehensive, sustained and balanced political solution through political dialogue and negotiation."

"China hopes that various ethnic groups in Ukraine will live in harmony and that Ukraine will live in peace with other countries," he said, adding "This is the fundamental way for Ukraine to achieve long-term stability and security."

China also hopes that the United Nations will play its role in finding a proper solution to the Ukraine crisis, and supports the construction efforts made by the international community to ease the humanitarian situation in east Ukraine, Wang added.
