With cameras acting as eyes, radars sensing barricades, and with GPS, navigation equipment and computers monitoring positions and giving directions, five driverless cars developed by Chinese universities and research institutions slowly but smoothly completed a 200-meter ring in Beijing on Monday.

Yu Kai, head of the Institute of Deep Learning at Baidu, said during the showcase of driverless cars that China's advantages lie in its demand side.
