Stock prices rose to a two-week high on Thursday as investors responded positively to the United States Federal Reserve interest rate hike which removed a major external source of uncertainty for the A-share market.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose 1.81 percent to close at 3,580 points while the ChiNext index in Shenzhen that tracks high-tech startups surged 2.63 percent to close at 2,835.7 points.

Property developers, consumption-related companies as well as alternative energy stocks led the rally on Thursday.
