Landslide Kills 14 in Southwest China A landslide has killed at least 14 people and left seven missing in Dongchuan District of Kunming, capital of southwest China's Yunnan Province. The landslide occurred at 7 am Monday, burying a two-story residential building constructed in the 1950s and five farmer's houses in the mining area of Yinmin Township. Continuous rain over recent days is to blame for the landslide, sources said. Local sources said all the injured people have been hospitalized and the rescue workers are trying to find out the missing. Dongchuan is a landslide-prone area in China. A landslide occurred there in the mid-1980s that killed 100 people. |
