Computer virus barely makes a dent digital virus that has wreaked havoc on thousands of computers every year on April 26 since 1999, failed to cause many computing problems on Friday in Beijing, according to computer experts. Experts attributed it to the emergency alerts issued by anti- virus vendors and the media days before the virus' triggering date, Saturday's China Daily reported. "We only repaired 52 computers paralyzed by the virus on Friday, while on the same day of last year, Beijing alone saw 6,000 computers paralyzed by the virus," said Liu Xu, a senior software engineer. However, the damage caused by another virus, Worm.Klez, another notorious program transmitted by e-mails by far outweighed those inflicted by CIH on April 26, he added. Liu's Beijing Rising Computer Sci-Tech Co. received 4,100 phone calls nationwide for anti-virus help on Friday. |
