No casualties or damages have been reported yet. Dong Jichuan, director of the provincial seismological bureau, told Xinhua that Jilin Province is located in a site unlikely to be hit by frequent earthquakes. Statistics show that only three strong earthquakes measuring 5.6, 5.2, 7.0 on the Richter scale jolted the province in 1960, 1966 and 1999, respectively.
