The fourth tropical storm this year, "Linfa", is expected to arrive in the seas around Taiwan and the South China Sea on Wednesday, the Central Meteorological Station warned Wednesday morning.

Linfa hit the sea surface east of the Philippines' main island of Luzon early Wednesday morning. The eye of the storm was located at 16.4 degrees north latitude and 123.9 degrees east longitude by 8 a.m., with fresh gales near the epicenter.

The storm will generate winds of gale force seven to nine on the sea surface east of Taiwan as well as the northeastern and central areas of the South China Sea on Wednesday and Thursday.
