China's total cargo traffic by regular flights reached 16.2 billion ton kilometers in 2002, fifth in the world.
The cargo traffic of international routes was 5.4 billion ton kilometers, up 19 percent compared with the previous year. China's revenue passenger kilometers was 123.9 billion, rising from the sixth to the fourth position in the world and surpassing Germany and France for the first time.
These statistics excluded Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. If figures from Hong Kong and Macao were included, China's total aviation turnover would ank second in the world, after the United States.
