Continuous rain stops railway in W. China
( 2003-07-14 14:53) (Xinhua)

Days of continuous rain Sunday caused the suspension of the railway between Baoji City in Shaanxi Province of northwest China and Chengdu City in Sichuan Province of southwest China.

The railway was suspended due to a collapse in the rail groundwork which was 20 meters deep and 30 meters long in the mountain area near Baoji City.

Over 500 railway workers and armed police have gone to the site and repair work is still under way.
