Typhoon Koni hits South China Sea

The eye of this year's eighth typhoon Koni was monitored to be at 13.7 degrees of north altitude and 117.5 degrees of east longitude in the southern surface of South China Sea, Saturday morning.

Koni generated fresh gale in areas around the eye of the typhoon, said a forecast released by the Central Meteorological Station .

It is expected that the eye of the typhoon will move northwestwardly at a speed of 10 km to 15 km per hour and will produce moderate to strong gales on the southern and central surface of South China Sea around Saturday noon to Sunday noon.
