Heatwave hampers blood donation

The Shanghai Blood Bank says only a few citizens have come forward to donate
blood in the last 20 days due to the ongoing blistering temperatures, Shanghai
Youth Daily reports.
Some people believe donating blood in the sweltering summer months could be
harmful.
Only 200 volunteers have visited the 16 blood-collection vans on the city's
streets, half the number received on ordinary days.
The "bank" is having to borrow blood from other nearby
provinces.
