35,000 yuan buys mother and daughter

A woman tried to sell herself and her 20-month-old daughter in the streets of
Panjin, Liaoning Province last Saturday, reports Beifang Morning Post.
The newly divorced 30-something woman, who set up a board on the pavement
advertising herself and her child "for sale", said that any man willing to pay
off her debts of 35,000 yuan (US$4,228) and help her raise her daughter could
own her from then on.
The woman, Song, had also written up two contracts, one of which read, "This
has nothing to do with anybody else, and the child will not go back to her
natural father."
Police persuaded the mother to leave the premises with her baby at about 5:30
pm. But the newspaper received a report the next day that the woman had returned
to the spot and later left with a man.
