Alcoholic steals bikes for drinks
( 2003-08-20 10:36) (China Daily)

Liquor rules the life of a man who haunted the 120 bus terminus over the past two weeks.

Nearly every day, he turned up at Zuojiazhuang, smelling strongly of alcohol, to steal bikes parked there.

With key in hand, he would try lock after lock until he was able to open one.

He then sold the bikes for 10-15 yuan (US$1.20-1.80) each and bought his favourite wine or beer with the money, said some store owners nearby.

Sometimes the bike owners caught him red-handed and gave him a good beating.

But he did not seem to care and continued to return each day to try the locks, even after being taken away by police four times, the store owners said.
