A woman appeared in the Haidian District People's Court yesterday on charges of stalking her former boyfriend for three years, reports Beijing Morning Post.

Yu, a migrant worker, was introduced to Qin, a chief engineer at a research institute, three years ago. Hoping to win the man's favour, Yu lied that she had graduated from university in Beijing.

When Qin realized that Yu's behaviour was not that of an educated woman, he terminated their relationship.

But Yu refused to give him up. For the past three years, she has made numerous nuisance calls to Qin's home and workplace.

Qin had to change the locks of the door to his flat several times as the woman would repeatedly break off sticks in the keyhole. He was finally driven to seek help from the courts.
