Rented toys are all the rage in Shanghai, reports Shanghai Youth Daily.
Toy rental shops are supplying the latest, most popular and novel toys to
children and their parents.
Family memberships range from 100 to 200 yuan (US$12-24) at most rental
shops. Rent charges are 10 per cent of the original price per day for the most
popular toys, while less requested items command just 1.4 per cent of their
retail worth.
The toys are all thoroughly disinfected between rentals, according to the
shop owners.
If a toy is returned damaged, renters are asked to pay the cost of replacing
the broken part or parts.
