More beef, mutton for robust police
( 2003-08-26 11:40) (China Daily)

Haidian traffic police officers have been ordered to eat more beef and mutton to keep up their strength on their intensive shifts, reports Beijing Times.

The 560 officers in this district are on duty six hours during the day and serve at least two hours on night patrol or additional missions.

But their eating habits are often unhealthy.

A recent study shows that about half have fatty livers, while nearly one-third suffer from cardiovascular diseases.

The police squad decided to feed the officers at least seven servings of beef or mutton and 15 servings of fibre-rich vegetables every week.
