Ever since admission to most of the city's parks became free in April, many of the stone tables in the parks have been commandeered by mahjong enthusiasts, said the paper.

Almost all of the tables in Xiangyang Park on Huaihai Road are constantly surrounded by gamblers.

They spend so much time in the parks that some even have take-away food delivered to them while they play.

Most of the gamblers are said to be street vendors from other provinces, and citizens are bothered by the noises they made.
