Fingerprint test to prove identity ( 2003-08-28 15:18) (China Daily)
Students attending the Self-taught Examination for Higher Education in
Liaoning Province will be required to leave their fingerprints at the testing
sites in order to confirm their real identities, reports Liaoshen Evening News.
The provincial test authority said its pilot programmes in Liaoyang and Tiexi
have been a success.
Prints will be taken of candidates' left and right index fingers prior to the
exam and stored in a computer database.
When they arrive to take the test, students will touch a special fingerprint
censor used to verify candidates' identities against the original prints
recorded.
The measure is meant to prevent the increasingly common problem of examinees
hiring someone else to take a test on their behalf.
