Relief for cabbies just around corner
( 2003-09-01 10:54) (China Daily)

Taxi drivers will have an easier time finding toilets while they are on the job as Shanghai prepares to build more public restrooms specifically designed to accommodate them, Oriental Morning Post reports.

There are currently 2,600 public toilets scattered throughout the city, but few provide parking spaces for the convenience of cabbies.

Taxi driver Wang Weixiong and 15 other cabbies published the guidebook "Public Toilets in Shanghai" last year after three years of painstaking research.

Love springs eternal at Senior House

Many elderly people residing at Senior Houses in Shanghai have been coupling up, reports Oriental Morning Post.

Sun, 92, who lives at a Senior House in the Putuo District met his 80-year-old girlfriend.

Several other couples have also got to know each other in the same way. Although their children generally support their relationships, most elderly couples are not that interested in getting married.

The partners simply prefer to keep each other company by watching TV or taking walks together.
