'Killer bend' to be rebuilt ( 2003-09-02 10:55) (China Daily)
A deadly stretch of road in Zhanjiang, which has claimed four lives since it
opened last September, will be re-built before next month on the orders of the
local government, reports Guangzhou Daily.
More than 20 traffic accidents have taken place at the Luhua Road bend in the
Zhanjiang Economic and Technological Development Zone, causing four deaths and
26 injuries in one month.
The surface of the ill-designed 100-degree bend is so slippery that traffic
police are forced to close that portion of the road on rainy
days.
