A man got tricked - twice - into calling a woman working for an expensive telephone chat service, reports Beijing Star Daily.

Wu was woken up early last Friday when his telephone rang. A young woman began speaking, saying she was a lovelorn girl looking for someone to talk to.

Although still groggy from sleep, Wu did not hang up for fear that the depressed-sounding girl might attempt suicide. When the girl asked him to call her back because she was at a public telephone, he did. The call lasted more than half an hour.

The girl later call him again, once more asking him to call her back. This time the conversation went on for an hour.

Wu eventually realized that the girl was working for a telephone service, which charged 30 times the rate for a normal call.
