Burglar dangles 2 hours in mid-air ( 2003-09-10 12:32) (China Daily) A burglary suspect dangled at
the end of a computer cable outside a high-rise building for about two hours in
a bungled attempt to escape, reports Yangcheng Evening News.
Security guards at the Guangzhou office building detected a break-in on
Sunday afternoon but failed to catch the burglars on the spot. They did not
discover the man suspended between the 21st and 22nd floors until early evening.
After he was saved, the sweat-drenched man admitted he was one of the
burglars who had been looting offices in the building.
He bound the computer cable around his waist and leapt out of a window upon
seeing the security guards approach. But the cable was too long for him to climb
back up to the 22nd floor and too short for him to reach the 21st. He had been
trembling in mid-air for two hours before he was noticed, the man said.
Police found three stolen cellphones, a hand-held computer and burglary
tools.
