Termites chew up repairman's savings

A bicycle repairman found
more than 3,000 yuan (US$360) he'd hidden under a mattress munched by termites,
reports Daily Sunshine.
Chen, who made a living repairing bicycles in Shenzhen's Gualan Town, tucked
away some 6,000 yuan (US$720) he had saved since the Chinese New Year under a
mattress.
The money appeared to be intact when he added some more in early July, Chen
said.
But when he decided to deposit the cash in a bank a few days ago, Chen was
shocked to see that much of the money had been "chewed up".
While the notes on top were still recognizable as renminbi, the lower ones
were in fragments. Termite wings on the pile left no doubt as to the identity of
the culprits, Chen said.
