A mother and son held in separate jails for different crimes were allowed to meet on Wednesday, the day before the mid-autumn moon festival, reports Beijing Daily.

The 50-year-old mother, Zhang, is serving the 10th year of a life term for murder. Her husband was executed for the same crime.

The son, 25-year-old Wang Shuang, was sentenced to seven years in jail earlier this year for robbery.

Wang was hostile to almost everyone and every situation when he was first put in jail. But after learning about his family's tragedy, the prison sought to help him and started a special psychological file to track his progress.
