A farmer in Guizhou died on Sunday after drinking three kilograms of a distilled spirit in a bet with friends, reports Guizhou Metro News.

Zhang, 40, was a habitual drinker who imbibed at least one kilogram of strong liquor almost every day.

Last Sunday on his way back from the town market, several villagers challenged Zhang by saying he could drink no more than one kilogram of hard liquor at a time. But Zhang boasted that he could easily drink three times that amount.

He had just swallowed the three kilograms he had bought from the market, when he collapsed and fell into a coma. Although the villagers immediately rushed him to hospital, Zhang stopped breathing on the way and died.
