School-uniform material check ( 2003-09-16 13:46) (China Daily) The education authority of
Foshan has launched a study into the material used in school uniforms after
receiving an increasing number of complaints from parents, reports Information
Times.
The parents said the uniforms, made from synthetic fibres, cause rashes and
other allergic reactions in children.
But school uniforms need to be washed frequently. Aside from the cost factor,
cotton-made uniforms do not wear as well and crease easily, argued Li Huazhao, a
school official.
The education bureau is discussing various options with the clothing industry
and will standardize school uniform material as early as next
term.
