Students patronizing store made to do laps ( 2003-09-18 13:56) (China Daily)
A middle school in Foshan is under investigation for making students do laps
after they were caught breaking a school rule by shopping at a nearby store,
reports Guangzhou Daily.
The rule forbidding students from patronizing the store across the school was
announced during the opening ceremony on September 1, according to the students.
A second-year student said he and his classmates were ordered to jog around
the classroom building 10 times for buying soda from the store after a physical
education class.
Another student said he was made to clean classrooms after school for one
week in addition to the laps.
Rough young men are known to hang out at the store, explained Zhu, the
school's deputy principal. But some teachers may be overzealous in implementing
the ban, which is intended to protect students from bad influences, she
added.
