Sweets, bad habits to blame for tooth decay ( 2003-09-19 14:24) (China Daily)
Some 70 per cent of adults between the ages of 35 and 44 in Guangdong suffer
from tooth decay, which has been blamed on a local penchant for sweets and poor
dental hygiene, reports Guangzhou Daily.
Gum disease has been found in children as young as three because parents
believe there is no need to brush a toddler's first set of teeth as they are
going to be replaced anyway, said doctors.
A year-long campaign to raise awareness about proper dental hygiene will kick
off in Guangzhou tomorrow, National Tooth Protection Day.
