A robber tried to confuse his pursuers by removing his outer clothing but was caught by an undercover policeman who witnessed the ploy, reports New Express News.

The victim, Wu, was robbed of her cellphone at Guangzhou Eastern Railway Station. She and several passers-by chased the robber to a terrace outside where he managed to blend in with several other people sitting there.

As Wu only recalled the robber's clothing and not his face, she was unable to identify the suspect.

But the robber did not get away because an undercover policeman happened to see him removing an outer garment and hiding it on the terrace. The cellphone was also found in the bundle.
