China advance to semis at Asian women's volleyball ( 2003-09-26 09:33) (Xinhua)
Defending champions China eased past hosts Vietnam 25-18, 25-13, 25-10 to reach the semi-finals at the 12th Asian Women's Volleyball Championship here on Thursday. Zhou Suhong and Zhao Ruirui teamed up to score 20 points for China, who overwhelmed the hosts 12-0 by serving. Chinese head coach Chen Zhonghe, however, wasn't happy with his team. "Our players didn't play well today," he said. "They looked lackluster throughout the match and made too many errors." Pham Kimhue scored eight points for the hosts, including seven from spikes, yet not good enough to save the team. "We tried our best," said Vietnam coach Nguyen Thi Hien. "But we lost the match, this is volleyball. I'm satisfied with my players' performance today." China will fight Thailand for a final berth as South Korea clash with Japan.
