Office workers' minds aging fast
( 2003-09-26 14:29) (China Daily)

Office workers' minds are aging faster than they are, according to a survey conducted by the Physical Supervision Centre of the Luwan District, Shanghai Morning Post reports.

In terms of physical wear and tear, the minds of the test subjects, all in their 30s, functioned at a rate that doctors would normally expect to find in people over the age of 40.

Since the beginning of this year, the centre has been studying the general health of office workers - those who do not engage in strenuous physical labour - between the ages of 20 and 45 from several aspects, including heart and lung function, muscle power and resistance, speed and dexterity.

According to the results, white-collar workers in largely sedentary jobs should exercise more as their physical age is much older than their actual age.
