Chief of PLA general staff holds talks with French counterpart

Liang Guanglie, chief of the General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation
Army (PLA), held talks Friday in Beijing with Henri Bentegeat, chief of staff of
the French armed forces.
China and France enjoyed good relations, Liang said, noting that China hoped
for developing relations between the two countries' armed forces and hoped the
relationship would maintain sound progress with joint efforts of both sides.
Bentegeat said his China tour indicated that the relations between the two
armed forces had entered a new stage.
China is a nation of rich resources, long history and brilliant culture, and
France is willing to cooperate with China, he said.
Liang also held a welcome ceremony for Bentegeat before the
conversation.
