Four break-in robbers who were cornered by woken-up residents jumped off the sixth floor of a building in Tongzhou County on Sunday - one died instantly and the other three were hospitalized, reports Beijing Evening News.

At about 2 am, four young men with knives stole into a flat in No 37 building at Yongshun Xili development to rob several young women, witnesses said.

The women's screams woke up the residents in the building; and six or seven men picked up iron rods and ran after the robbers.

When the robbers reached the top of the six-floor building and found no way out, they shouted and jumped one after another, only to fall to the playground in a primary school.
