10 confirmed dead in accident

Ten workers have been
confirmed dead in a construction site accident in Xinhui District of Jiangmen on
Tuesday morning, reports Information Times.
A total of 20 workers were trapped when the seven-floor-high scaffolding at a
half-built shopping mall collapsed at 10:17 am; and five were still missing at
midnight.
More than 100 square metres of steel plates fell from mid-air, bringing down
large amount of debris.
More than 500 people took part in the rescue, which was headed by Provincial
Public Security Bureau director Liang Guoju.
It is believed to the most serious work-related accident in Guangdong in the
second half year, according to New Express News.
Construction projects across the city have been suspended for one day to
check safety perils.
