Bird's nest market most expensive ( 2003-10-09 13:24) (China Daily)
A market specializing in bird's nest, dried abalone and shark's fin has
turned out to be the most expensive commercial property in Guangzhou, reports
Guangzhou Daily.
With an average price of 200,000 yuan (US$24,096) per square metre, Shanhai
city on Yide Road is believed to be more costly than any other property on the
mainland, according to industry insiders. A premier-location shop was sold at
290,000 yuan per square metre (US$34,939) recently.
The 400-shop market, opened earlier this year, targets wholesale dealers of
so-called "preserved seafood". But retail customers also visit to take advantage
of wholesale price.
High trading volume is the key factor attracting shop operators to the
market, said Wu, a manager of Shanhai city.
